When the GTBUP is not out searching in Grand Traverse Bay, they're usually researching information online with the links to the left.
A bottomlands survey of Grand Traverse Bay will be conducted in the latter part of May through September, 2008 with specific interests from the deepest part of both bays to the shallows. Multi-beam technology will be used.
History was made in Grand Traverse Bay over the Memorial Day weekend 2007!
With top of the line acoustic technology (MS1000 Sector Scan with tilt-head, profile, and imaging combined) provided by Kongsberg Mesotech, Brian Abbott, geophysicist and engineer from Nautilus Marine Group, joined Dr. Mark Holley, Ph.D. in Underwater Archaeology, members of the GTBUPC and NMC students for two and a half days of sector-side scanning in Grand Traverse Bay. To facilitate this survey, a very generous donation of a Barrington 26’ pontoon boat was provided by Dockworks, Inc., out of Eastport/Central Lake. Thank you!
